CONSTRUCTION TRAINING INTERNATIONAL
HISTORY
Construction Training International Pty Ltd (C.T.I.) was established in 1995 by Mr. Peter Patterson as a Registered Training Organisation to deliver training and assessment in the Construction Industry for construction equipment such as Cranes, Hoists and Earthmoving under the National Guidelines of Health and Safety. CTI Specialises in training for people working off Shore on oil and Gas Platforms. Over time other highly experienced Trainers and Assessors with a background in the Construction Industry joined the organization, adding their wealth of knowledge and ensuring that C.T.I. is a group continued to gain a strong reputation of quality and integrity within the industry. Today C.T.I. is based in Riddells Creek, North of Melbourne and is engaged in the business of undertaking assessments for competency certificates throughout Victoria and in some cases South Australia. C.T.I. issues National Equipment Operator Cards under NOHSC: 7019 and / or NOHSC: 1006 for forklifts, cranes, dogging, rigging, scaffolding, hoists, earthmoving equipment etc. We Suggest the use of log books to document training to all employee's using plant and earthmoving machinery along with All Crane Licensing. We also offer refresher courses in all these areas. CTI Audits all Assessors in accordance with ISO9001. Over the last 10 years we have grown to a group of nearly 70 active Trainers & Assessors and our scope has expanded beyond the Construction Industry into different fields. We now employ four permanent office staff to administrate and support the assessors and to issue qualifications.
PRIOR TO THE IMPLEMENTATION OF AQTF 2007:
- C.T.I. gained approval from OTTE to deliver:
- Confined Spaces
- Traffic Controllers and Traffic Management
- OH&S
- C.T.I. joined forces with HIA to deliver Red Card Courses and Energy Safe Victoria to deliver Spotters Courses.
- C.T.I. set up a working Tower Crane at our Training Facility to train and assess Tower Crane Operators.
- C.T.I. continued to develop and grow our Training Facility including the purchase of equipment such as Forklift, BobCat, EWP and the installation of 4 training rooms, kitchen and a locked archiving room.
- C.T.I. is in the process of dismantling all existing hot houses and developing the site with scaffolding sheds and other training areas.
- C.T.I. now offers a Precast Panel Erection Course.
IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS:
- Implemented the new AQTF 2007 standards and to make all necessary changes.
- Adopted the new standards from WorkSafe and to develop new training packages.
- Introduced a scholarship program to assist people under hardship gain further education and training on various plant and equipment, by offering funding in the way of services and equipment hire.
- Built additional training rooms and to encourage C.T.I. Trainers and Assessors to use our Training Facility to conduct various Training courses and Assessments utilising our equipment on site.
- Promoted and develop our Tower Crane Training Program
BEYOND THE NEXT 12 MONTHS:
C.T.I. wants to provide ongoing training to local secondary schools and TAFE’s to participate in the exposure and access to heavy equipment such as earthmoving, cranes, hands on rigging and dogging. C.T.I. also wants to continue to grow our business to suit our clients’ needs, our assessors’ needs and to lead the way with a higher standard in all aspects of training, whilst maintaining the utmost level of safety at all times and constantly striving to improve.
